Family information:
Married to Ruth for 38 years. Three sons, all married, credentialed ministers, serving in pastoral and music ministries. Six grandchildren. Three girls and three boys. We’re blessed beyond what we deserve.

How did you come to Life Center Church?
By invitation. After serving four years as Associate Pastor (’79-’83) at Life Center, we moved to Texas to serve at Trinity Church in San Antonio (’83-’87). Life Center called us back to candidate for the lead pastor position, in which we were elected. That was March of ’87 and we’re delighted to still be serving here. Great Church…Great People!

What is your role at Life Center Church?
I’m the Senior/Lead Pastor. I am the key visionary of the church, the primary pulpit teacher/preacher, I disciple and mentor leaders, and I’m ultimately responsible for everything that pertains to this church.

What is the best part about your role?
To serve in hopes that what I do can makes a difference in God’s Kingdom

For fun…

I like golf, travel, being with my family, playing table games, dining at fine restaurants, reading, attending sporting events and concerts (of all types), bird hunting, dog training and experiencing new and exciting things.

Who is your favorite character in the biblical story? Why? How do you identify with him/her?
It would probably be King David. He loved his God and his people with all his heart. He wasn’t perfect in all his ways, but God still used him in wonderful ways when he repented and walked with the Lord. He was what I want to be…A MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART.

Who are your favorite sports figure(s) and/or team(s)?
Tiger Woods (I’m a wanna-be better golfer). The Lakers. The Cowboys (a Texas hold over for me).

Who is your favorite musical artist or group?
Don’t really have one. I like a wide variety of Christian music styles and artists both past and present. I’m an old rocker, but anything that truly glorifies God suits me just fine.

What is your favorite place on the earth?
Wherever my wife and family are! However, the locations I enjoy the most are Kauai, the Greek Islands, Italy, and most any pristine golf course. There are lots of others, but this will do.

If you could only have one book to read (other than the Bible), what would it be? Why?
There are numerous great books out there, but none come close to the Bible. If I had to choose another book to read…I’d pass. I love a good novel, mysteries, fiction, biographies, commentaries and educational books. But I love God’s Word. Any other book is not necessary.

What makes you laugh?
My wife, Ruth. I love our life together and all the funny stuff that goes on with us. My grandchildren ALL make me laugh. They can be hilarious! A good joke or humorous incident. I often, in all honesty, have to laugh at myself (I never want to take myself too seriously). I love to laugh out loud, have fun and make lasting memories

What makes you cry?
Hurting people. Injustice in our world. Lost people. Disappointments and misunderstandings. Shattered dreams. Abused people. And when I stub my toe or crack my head on something…boy does that smart!
