Family information:
Married to my great wife, Sherry, of 37 years. We have two terrific sons: Ryan (fiancé, Alyssa; Samantha, 4 yrs. old); and Brenton (wife, Rachel; Aubrey, 3 yrs. old; Micah, 8 mos.).

How did you come to Life Center Church?
I was invited to become part of the pastoral staff in 2005 and have truly enjoyed serving these four years here.

What is your role at Life Center Church?
As Executive Pastor I have direct oversight over our pastoral/church staff along with directing Adult Christian Education classes, Men’s Ministry and our home Grow Group ministry. I teach a Family Life Class on Sunday mornings.

What is the best part about your role?
Interacting with the great people at Life Center and planning creative avenues of ministry to share our love and faith with others.

For fun…

Who is your favorite character in the biblical story? Why? How do you identify with him/her?
There are some cool characters in the Bible, but one of my favorites is the Apostle Paul, whose NT writings truly give substance to the Christian faith and life. He’s a true man of heart and mind.

Who are your favorite sports figure(s) and/or team(s)?
In my earlier days, Willie Mays, former great centerfielder for the Giants. Now, it’s Tiger Woods, who I hope goes on to beat all formerly held PGA records. I’m also a fan of the Angels!

Who is your favorite musical artist or group?
It’s got to be Neil Diamond—he’s a classic contemporary in my book! I also dig a great symphony presentation, like John Williams directing at the Hollywood Bowl.

What is your favorite place on the earth?
It’s southern California for living…with Europe, the Mediterranean region and Australia for places to visit. I want to see New Zealand some day!

If you could only have one book to read (other than the Bible), what would it be? Why?
There are actually two I’d read closely together: Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis, and Simply Christian, N. T. Wright.

What makes you laugh?
My wonderful three grandkids, Robin Williams in RV and sports bloopers!

What makes you cry?
Field of Dreams and the Rookie…especially with the father scenes—it hits home for me! And sometimes just being worshipfully in God’s gracious presence.
